STOP 1
Our Jeep Safari Rethymno adventure begins at Lake Kournas, the only natural freshwater lake on the island. Surrounded by the White Mountains, it offers a serene landscape perfect for your first morning photos. Furthermore, you will learn about the unique ecosystem of this protected area before we head into the wild.
STOP 2
We drive through the narrow, picturesque streets of Kournas Village to experience authentic Cretan architecture. From there, the real fun begins! Additionally, we hit the off-road trails of the Agios Ioannis Azilakas Forest. This famous trail is a paradise for 4×4 enthusiasts, offering lush greenery and rugged mountain terrain.
STOP 3
Next, we visit the legendary Argyroupoli Springs. Renowned for its ancient waterfalls and crystal-clear springs, this stop is all about relaxation. Moreover, you can spend 30 minutes under the shade of centenarian plane trees, listen to the sound of running water, and capture stunning nature photography.
STOP 4
As we continue our safari adventure, we pass through the impressive Moundros Gorge. We stop at a natural mountain spring to rest and enjoy the breathtaking views of the steep cliffs. Consequently, this is a must-see spot for every traveler exploring Rethymno’s hinterland.
STOP 5
Time to savor the famous Cretan gastronomy! We stop at a local village taverna for an authentic Cretan lunch. Specifically, you will taste traditional dishes made with local olive oil and fresh ingredients, experiencing true Cretan hospitality in a timeless setting.
STOP 6
We descend towards the South coast through the majestic Kotsifou Gorge. As we drive between the narrow rock walls, you will get your first glimpses of the deep blue Libyan Sea. Therefore, the panoramic views here are simply unforgettable for our Jeep Safari Rethymno guests.
STOP 7
Furthermore, we reach the highlight of our tour! We spend 1 hour and 45 minutes at the exotic Preveli Beach, where the “Megas Potamos” river meets the sea amidst a lush Palm Forest.
STOP 8
On our way back, we make a 15-minute stop at the breathtaking Kourtaliotiko Gorge. In addition to being one of the most dramatic natural wonders in Crete, it is famous for its powerful winds and hidden waterfalls. This scenery is perfect for professional-level landscape photography.
STOP 9
Our final stop before returning is the “Three Monasteries” viewpoint. From this exclusive vantage point, you will enjoy a panoramic view of Rethymno city and the Aegean Sea. Ultimately, it provides the perfect closing image for your day of adventure.
